What Are The Best Live Chat Apps For Law Firms?

November 25, 2020 by Josh Brown

If you didn’t know already, I’ve been optimizing websites for law firms for some time now. Live chat for law firms is now a must-have feature for law websites to stay ahead of the game.

Your web traffic may look great in reports, but it’s no good if those visitors are not converting. Using a reputable live talk app can help boost the number of clients that sign up with you by encouraging engagement.

So, if you want to turbo charge your sales, you should consider rolling out live chat as part of your online strategy.

I’ve tried many live chat apps with our law clients, and there are three apps that stand head and shoulders above the rest.

First thing’s first, what is live chat and why should you use it?

What Is a Live Chat App?

A live chat app is a piece of web-based software that enables someone to chat online in real-time. It works in fundamentally the same way as Facebook Messenger.

Why Use a Live Chat App?

Live chat apps are a cost effective method of boosting client sign-ups. Our clients who incorporate live chat into their web development find their web traffic converts three-fold.

What To Look For In a Live Chat App

Focus on the following areas when you’re shopping live chat apps:

  • Quality of staff
  • Performance reports
  • Ease of use
  • Stability of platform
  • Chatbots
  • Integration with other platforms
  • Mobile friendliness
  • Pricing
  • Customer service
  • Reviews

Best 3 Live Chat Apps for Law Firms

  1. nGage
  2. Ruby
  3. Apex Chat

1) nGage

Our fave live chat app by far is nGage. What makes nGage stand out from other live chat apps is their phenomenal chat functionality. Most live chat apps are somewhat robotic. They all say the same things and ask the same questions.

nGage, by contrast, has this element nailed. They know what to say, when to say it, and they say it naturally. This, of course, has a huge impact on conversions.

Conversions

If you’re seeking legal advice online, you’re more likely to hire a responsive and helpful lawyer. That’s why nGage does so well on the conversion front.

Our clients consistently report back that once they install nGage on their site, they start getting more leads and chats than any other live chat app generates.

With nGage, customers tend to get higher quality information specific to their needs. This is crucial for keeping a steady flow of traffic conversions.

How Does nGage Work?

nGage is manned by operators ready to answer your enquiries 24/7. This means you won’t need to hire any in-house reception staff, saving you thousands of dollars.

Pricing

Pricing is variable and depends on your needs, but typically you’ll only pay for quality leads. You might need to dig deeper for nGage, but this price is reflected in the high quality of leads you’ll get.

Reviews

If you head over to Trustpilot you’ll see that nGage receives consistently high ratings from users.

2) Ruby

Another live chat that’s a firm favorite with our law clients is Ruby. Ruby provides live chat for law firms around the clock.

Like nGage, Ruby employs excellent customer service live chat staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All operatives are US based and trained to a high standard so all enquiries are handled professionally and promptly. All of our law clients report great service from this firm.

Don’t just take my word for it, their website boasts some impressive stats. They have a Trustpilot trust score of 9.6 and clients typically report a growth in leads by 20%.

While Ruby predominantly offers virtual reception services, the quality and professionalism of their service spills into the way they deliver the live chat service which probably explains their success in converting leads.

Any of our law clients who commission Ruby’s live chat app report a significant increase in appointments.

3) Apex Chat

The third live chat app I highly recommend is Apex Chat.

Apex Chat specialize in live chat for law firms and do a great job. Whether it’s personal injury, bankruptcy, family, or criminal defense, these guys will tailor live chat functionality on your site to a T.

Our rigorous testing campaigns reveal that these guys really are at the top of their game. Their secret sauce I believe is the investment in their staff. Their quality training programs enable their agents to effectively reroute potential clients to the right expertise preventing them shuttling from pillar to post.

My experience of live chat apps with spotty training is that they tend to infuriate the potential customer rather than guide and assist. This is disastrous for conversion rates. Apex Chat has this area nailed.

A neat feature of Apex Chat is they will send you a transcript of each chat completely free. Transcripts are handy for identifying training issues and are invaluable for identifying customer trends.

One thing I would mention however, is they don’t have any feedback on Trustpilot just yet. But, I can assure you this firm is particularly effective for law firms. All of my clients who went with Apex Chat are reporting pretty good conversion rates.

Final Thoughts

Any of these three live chat apps will no doubt increase your conversion rates. Having rigorously tested all three apps I would happily recommend all three.

If you’re in a quandary as to which one to plump for I would have to say my personal preference of all three is nGage.

As I mentioned before, their service has a slight edge. The way nGage live chat is configured encourages engagement and drives sales. Having used it many times for my clients I have always been impressed at how nGage can turbo boost conversion rates.

nGage may be slightly more expensive than the other apps but you’ll see excellent returns on your investment.

Also remember that nGage specializes in legal live chat apps that directly appeal to those seeking legal advice. The developers understand the customer and have created a service that intuitively engages them.

That said, in my experience Ruby and Apex Chat are also solid contenders. To establish which app is right for you I would suggest you make contact with all three companies and see how you gel. Of course, for those wondering, running live chat scripts will not impact your law firm’s SEO, but it may impact your site speed ever so slightly.
